Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

01.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes. If you live in Arkansas, I ask that your first visit is in person. Afterwards, you can do most of your appointments through HIPAA compliant telemedicine visit.

02.

Do you prescribe medications?

Yes, as a board-certified psychiatrist, I can prescribe medications when appropriate. However my approach is to recommend nutritional support, lifestyle changes and supplements before or with medications.

03.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not contract directly with insurance companies, including Medicaid and Medicare. This allows me to spend adequate time with each patient, order the most appropriate testing, and provide truly personalized care without insurance restrictions. I can provide a  detailed superbill after each visit that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. If you plan to seek reimbursement, I encourage you to contact your insurance company to find out about out-of-network benefits for diagnostic codes 90792, 99213 and 99214.

04.

Can I use my HSA/FSA card?

Yes! I accept HSA and FSA cards for payment. Psychiatric consultations and many types of laboratory testing are eligible expenses under most HSA/FSA plans. Some supplements and lifestyle interventions may not be covered, but we can provide documentation for you to submit to your HSA/FSA administrator if needed.

05.

What kind of lab testing do you order?

I order baseline testing, then adjust specifically for you. Not every patient needs every test -they will be ordered depending on your symptoms and needs. These tests include things traditional medicine usually does not order such as:  gene testing, amino acids, vitamins, hormones, inflammation markers.

06.

What is all this about supplements?

I will recommend supplements which include vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids, herbs, or homeopathic remedies. These are not classified as drugs. What I recommend will be based on your testing and symptoms - I will not simply have you buy multiple vitamins and supplements. As a physician, I can manage their safety, impact and interaction with your prescribed medications.
